The Forest Academy of the Finnish Forest Association (Metsäakatemia) visited the Aalto Bioproducts Center on 22 August for short talks and demonstrations of research projects at Aalto.

The programme started with talks at Haukilahden school by Kristiina Kruus (Aalto Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering, CHEM), Head of the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems and its Bioproducts Centre by Herbert Sixta, and Vice Dean of Education at Aalto CHEM Tapani Vuorinen

Orlando Rojas (FinnCERES Research Principal Investigator and Professor at Aalto University) presented the FinnCERES Flagship.

The highlight of the Forest Academy visit was ‘Forest is our material bank – Research project demonstrations at Aalto Bioproduct Centre’ in which our visitors could see and touch some of the new materials and products from research done at Aalto’s Bioproduct Centre. The demo stations were hosted by Aalto’s students and faculty, including Ioncell, CHEMARTS, and new materials from lignin and nanocellulose.

“I want to stay — all the demos are so interesting!”
